Richard Hathaway is General Counsel at Shieldpay, an FCA-regulated payments platform trusted by more than 40 of the UK’s top 100 law firms to verify, hold and disburse client funds.

Before moving in-house, Richard was a Partner at Trowers & Hamlins. He subsequently held General Counsel and COO roles across a series of technology scale-ups including Flyt, Bright Network and XYB, bringing a cross-functional perspective that spans legal, operations and commercial leadership.

He has a particular focus on payments regulation and where fintech meets professional services – making him well placed to assess the innovation and excellence this awards programme recognises.
